The varsity basketball team suffered a stunning 66-57 defeat in the last five minutes of the Peddie game, January 11.

During most of the game, the offensive momentum was stalled for both teams. The Gray Bees held a close lead for a majority of the game. However, after a foul in the remaining minutes of the fourth quarter, Peddie was able to pull in front of Benedict’s 56-55.

In the final two minutes of the game, the Gray Bee’s sloppy defense allowed Peddie to spark an 11-2 run. Postgrad Bruce Edwards and senior Tyler Jones from Peddie capitalized off the Gray Bee’s sluggish defense by making great passes to find open shooters behind the three-point line.

With five seconds left on the clock, Peddie began to celebrate their win as the Gray Bees looked at the scoreboard in disbelief as they picked up their second loss of their season.

Team manager, Gabe Cuadrado said, “Players did not wish to comment on the loss.” This loss was the team’s second of the season.

Following this game, the Gray Bees had two blowout victories against Seward Park 79-39, January 12 and Math,Civics and Sciences Charter School of Philadelphia 87-53, January 14.
