SBP in The Netherlands 2018: History and Culture

Carlos Presina

It’s Carlos here and I’m here to tell you about today’s adventure in the Netherlands.

Carlos adds skating to his talents.

Today we biked around Castricum to see places in which WWII events happened. Our tour guide, an author who is writing a book about the Holocaust, showed us bunkers that were used to store all the art that the natives from the Netherlands tried to hide from the Nazis. We saw the places in which Allied Forces fighter pilots crashed and lost their lives and where they were buried.

Later, we went ice skating, a Dutch national passion, and we had lots of fun but, however, sadly one of our brothers, Ammon Moore, fell on the ice and was taken to the hospital to get stitches. Once we knew he was recovered and had rejoined us, we all went bowling and had a fun time. The Dutch were one of the European groups who brought bowling with them to the Americas. At first, I found bowling to be challenging since I have only bowled once or twice before. But I soon got the hang of it. All and all we had a successful day today.
