On January 4th, the 10-2 Gray Bees faced the Hill School, from Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The game got off to a slow start. Both sides were very active on defense. The first half ended with the Gray Bees leading 24-21. The audience expressed cheers, ecstatic for the rest of what was so far a close game.

The second half was led by Spencer Mahoney (SY), Deandre Williams (SY), and Captain Alezaye Johnson (SY). Mahoney led the team in scoring with 17 points. His sharpshooting ability to hit 3’s ignited his other teammates. Captain Ladji Dembele (SY) and Williams were able to capitalize on the attention Mahoney was receiving from Hill’s defense. Williams and Dembele scored a combined 23 points in the second half. Johnson continues to be a game-orchestrating point guard and his poise was crucial to the Gray Bee’s success on offense.

Alexzaye said, “We are heading in the right direction as a team. We have had two tough losses but any good team needs those losses to reflect on and build resilience. We have a few games left and I am confident we have what we need to get the job done of finishing out the season strong.”

This half proved why the Gray Bees are such a dominant team. They pulled ahead with chemistry that made it seem as if they could read each other’s minds. Hill had no response to SBP’s relentless aggression and was outscored by ten points in the first half, 37-27.

The Gray Bees took a ten-point lead in the latter part of the second half.  They maintained and extended that lead, winning 61-48, making their record 10-2.
